Our
Road To Arenal (By Tina in 2002)
This is our
first bar, & we hope to make a success of it. We visited
Arenal 4 years ago & drank in this bar, which used
to be called "The Canny Lad". We had one of
the best holidays we have ever had, and always told everyone
what a wonderful place it was to relax; or to party -
whichever you choose. Little did we know that we would
one day be standing behind the bar in which we had so
many happy times..........needless to say; we are VERY
happy to be here! Here's our story.......
In 2001, we
decided to sell up, give up our jobs & live the dream
of moving to Spain. We were undecided what we were going
to do when we made our decision to move, thinking that
we could buy a house or villa & look for work. We knew that
we were giving up an awful lot to fulfil our dream. Both
of us had good jobs; I was an Admissions Manager for a
large NHS hospital in Liverpool, Richie was Transport
Manager for a sweet manufacturer. The boys also
gave up good jobs to join us. Despite never having been
to Arenal, they both jumped at the chance to come out
with us. Richie worked for the 051 Nightclub in Liverpool;
and Chris worked for an alarm company based in Leicester.
We looked around
for about 6 months, mainly on mainland Spain, but nothing
gave us what we like to call "The Buzz". Time
was running out as we had sold our house & had to
find something quickly. Just after
Xmas we came out to Majorca to look at a few bars in Magaluf;
but still nothing gave us "The Buzz". We then
noticed, on the Internet, that "The Canny Lad"
was up for sale. We decided to come out and see for ourselves
& boy, did we get that "Buzz"!!
One of the
things that really swung it for us was the excellent accommodation
above the bar itself & devastatingly panoramic view
